CHARITIES

There are a number of charities that take donations of second hand clothes and other goods.  These are either then given or sent to needy people, or sold to raise funds for their respective causes.

If you have second hand items that you would like to donate, then you could consider the following charities:

BSPCA

The Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) was established in 1979 by a small group of committed and passionate animal lovers.  It is a humane, charitable, non-profit organisation dedicated to the welfare of animals.  The society depends upon the generosity of the public for its funds as well as monies generated by the Thrift Shop.

The Thrift Shop is located at 6 Busheiri Gardens, off the Budaiya Highway (close to Pet Arabia) and is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9am to 12 noon, and Saturdays and Sundays 3pm to 5pm.  The Thrift Shop requires donations of clothes, books, and household items.

Second Chance Charity (raises funds for Tony the Dogfather Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre)

Through their sales they contribute to the well being of the animals in the rescue centre.  Money raised goes towards animal food, litter, toys, collars and vet bills.

Donations of clothes, furniture, household items, books, toys, CDs and DVDs can be made to the shop on Jannusan Avenue in Budaiya, behind Al Jazira supermarket.  The shop is open every Friday and Saturday 9am-12 noon.  Pick up of donations can also be arranged.

The Palm Association

The Palm Association, through fund-raising events and donations, raises money with the aim of helping Bahraini women who have fallen on hard times due to the death of a spouse, divorce, disability or illness.

Donations of children’s and adult clothes, toys and good quality household items are accepted and given directly to families who need them.

They can be contacted on 3996 7896 to arrange pick up of donations.

Michelle Bailey’s Orphan Charity Saar

Based in Saar, for several years Michelle Bailey has been collecting donations on behalf of an overseas orphanage, and more recently for local needy families.  100% of the money raised goes towards people in need.  Goods that are donated either go directly to people who need them, or are sold to raise funds.

Any goods in good order are accepted, including books, clothes, shoes, linen, household items and electrical goods.
Donations can be made at Villa 23, Gulf Garden Compound, Saar (opposite Hi Mart Supermarket on Saar Avenue).  Phone number is 3962 7883.  Donations can be dropped off at any time, and sales are available from 10am to 6pm Saturday to Wednesday.  Large donations can be collected by calling the above number.
